Big Hit at the 7th Annual Global Mixx Music Forum.
The 7th Annual Global Mixx Music Forum presented by Dough Street Entertainment was held Sunday, August 18th at the LaCuna Artist Lofts in the beautiful artist district of Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. With a wonderful day full of workshops, panel discussions, vendors and artist showcases, it brought out a diverse crowd of attendees. This year we kicked off the conference with the panel discussion “Business, Licensing and New Media” moderated by John Williamson (Sr.VP of Music Dealers), “In the Lab” Production Workshops hosted by Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley, DJ Skip, Orville, Naki The Beatman, Nael Shahede and Drumma Boy.
The day continued with public official, Clerk Dorothy Brown of the Cook County Circuit County, Wallace ‘Gator’ Bradley, DJ Phantom, and Hanji Mohammend participating on the “Social Responsibility & Politics of Music” panel co-moderated by George Daniels and Todd I. Walton (Rainbow PUSH along with a great panel of commentators. The “Vocals & Songwriting” panel discussion was lead by Kevin Shine that featured Terisa Griffin, Crystal Nicole and Kindred The Family Soul. Without missing a beat, a special “House Music Roundtable” discussion moderated by Khris ‘First Lady’ Raye was joined by heavy hitters that included Ron Carroll, Bear Who?, Lady D, Ron Trent, DJ Hugo H. and more! Concluding the panel discussion line-up, “The DJ Workshop” moderated by WGCI’s Jamal Smallz with an all-star DJ panel including Johnny O, DJ Anji Stone, DJ V Dub, DJ Deon and more!
Special Rooftop party featuring Independent artists, groups and a ‘Conversation with a DJ Legend’ which spotlighted the legendary Grandmaster Jay.
